Encyc:Accessibility

Definition of accessibility from W3C's wikipedia:Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI):

"Web accessibility means that people with disabilities can use the Web. More specifically, Web accessibility means that people with disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web, and that they can contribute to the Web. Web accessibility also benefits others, including older people with changing abilities due to aging."

At Encyc, we do what we can to make things easier for as many users as possible. Mainly so far this has taken the form of:

  • Using the Vector skin, a proven Mediawiki skin used by Wikipedia and other major wikis
  • Making a number of additional skins and themes available through the preferences --> appearance settings, including two dark themes
  • Changing article formatting to make the content more accessible on smaller screens and mobile devices.
  • Helping the community by developing improvements to existing themes and sharing them.
