Encyc:Artificial intelligence

Encyc:Artificial intelligence

Background[edit source]

Recent improvements in AI have raised the question of how these tools should be used.

Policy[edit source]

Images[edit source]

Readers expect authentic images. AI-generated images should be used very sparingly. Appropriate uses might be in Encyc management spaces (like Encyc:About) where the images are clearly used for fun and entertainment only, or in some of the specialized articles where human-generated images are unavailable. Avoid misleading readers. Avoid copyright issues and attribute properly.

Text[edit source]

No AI text in the articles. No one comes here to read AI cut and pasted from somewhere else. It's possible that some editors use AI to give themselves ideas and to smooth the writing process. That's ok as long as the edits to the encyclopedia are original human-generated content.

Search engine optimization (SEO) considerations[edit source]

Google values original content. What we have here is unique, a very special project where hundreds of contributors have built something that no computer could build. We should try to preserve that.

Request for comment[edit source]

This is a developing policy and comments are welcome on the talk page, or be bold and edit this one.
