This page will describe the use of images on Encyc. The two ways to put a picture on Encyc are by uploading or by using an existing image from Wikimedia Commons.
Uploading[edit]
You are free to upload any image as long as it complies with Encyc:License and is not objectionable content. Please don't upload anything that isn't appropriate for all ages to see. There might be exceptions, such as in articles about war, but please use common sense. I think it best that until MediaWiki develops better child-protection features, we should try to make Encyc as G-rated as possible.
Instant Commons Feature[edit]
Many articles can be illustrated using pictures that are already available on Wikimedia Commons. This is where the pictures that are used by Wikipedia are also stored. If you see an image you like on Wikipedia, you can use it here using the exact same code as if you were on Wikipedia. The software handles bringing it over and caching a version here so that we do not overtax Wikimedia's servers.
