Encyc talk:Proposed rules for Encyc

From Encyc

Thanks for the effort Blissy. I'm going to go through them here because I'm far too lazy to do it on the project page and make it look nice.

2.1 Have fun

I'm not sure why this is needed. If people aren't having fun then they won't be here. We're not paying them, right?

2.2 Do not ruin the fun of others

Rather vague. I can't imagine how I could ban someone for this.

2.3 Nothing illegal

Agreed.

2.4 No spam, hack etc

Agreed.

2.5 Generally support the owner and aims of the site

Not really necessary. I can take criticism.

2.6 Do not deliberately lie

Unenforceable.

2.7 Anything that is an opinion should be obvious

Unenforceable.

2.8 Disputed facts should be backed up with evidence

Way too much time to enforce.

2.9 Disputed evidence should have reason to it

My reasoning is not always the best. I guess I could bust into an argument now and then but I'd like it to be infrequent.

2.10 All final decisions should be made by Emperor

The rule is ok but some of your paragraph isn't.
Anti-discrimination laws are about the only thing stopping Emperor from banning someone, and certain laws about appropriate content are the only reason forcing Emperor to ban someone, and even then only if he has been given appropriate legal notice.
This medium is literally colorblind, and members could be martians for all I know. There's really no way for me to be any more sensitive to people of certain races than others. I plan to treat everyone the same, regardless of who they say they are.
Laws about appropriate content - I'm not sure where you got this one. I don't have to ban anyone for writing inappropriate content. I can, but I don't have to. I also don't have to give any legal notice. I find that Wikipedia-style warning templates only add to the drama.
