English language
The English language is the official language of the United Kingdom of Britain, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It is official in Australia, New Zealand, Guyana, and it is used as a common language in many other countries, especially in Africa. It is unofficial in the United States, but it is the de facto standard language of the country.
When the British empire was created, the English language entered every continent on Earth, forming the first global language, as it is proved by the fact that it's the most studied foreign language in the world with more than a billion secondary speakers.
The English language belongs to the linguistic branch of germanic languages, more precisely west-germanic.
