FA Cup
The FA Cup is the oldest football (soccer) competition in the world. First played in 1871, it still runs today as the main knockout competition in English football.
Currently teams compete all the way from the Premier League at the top level of English football, to teams from semi-professional leagues at tier 9. Higher level teams enter in later rounds.
Because so many teams enter there has been a lot of notable shock results, known as "giant killings".
Some famous giant killings:
- 1971-72 - Hereford United 2-1 Newcastle United
- 1988-89 - Sutton United 2-1 Coventry City
- 1991-92 - Wrexham 2-1 Arsenal
- 2025-26 - Macclesfield 2-1 Crystal Palace
