Fania Fénelon was a Holocaust survivor, who wrote a well received memoir, Playing for Time.[1] In it Fenelon described being chosen as a member of an orchestra of talented Jewish musicians, who were spared execution in order to play in the death camp.
In 1980 CBS broadcast a made-for-tv movie, based on her memoirs, also entitled Playing for Time.
