Fanonism

From Encyc
Frantz Fanon at a press conference in Tunis, 1959.

Fanonism is a political ideology inspired by Frantz Fanon (1925-1961), a physician from Martinique. It has Marxist, antiracist, and anticolonialist influences. It emphasizes the use of violence in the decolonization process. It is popular in Western university settings in the 21st century.

Fanon was born in Martinique and served with the Free French during World War II. In the 1950s he worked in Algeria, where he supported the independence movement and was involved with the FLN.
