Farad

From Encyc

Farad is a physical unit, named in honour of Michael Faraday.

It measures electrical capacitance and is defined as the capacitance that, when charged by a potential difference of one volt, holds one Coulomb of charge. As this is in practice a very large capacitance, it is very common to find the units microfarad, nanofarad and even picofarad (10-6, 10-9 and 10-12 farads respectively).
