Fire department

Fire Departments provide the staff and infrastructure to prevent damage from accidental fires.

Staff are trained to fight fires safely, and to rescue and provide first aid to victims.

Departments typically operate special vehicles, like fire engines, and fireboats. Wildfires are sometimes countered by specially built or modified aircraft, called water bombers.
