Flatcar

Flatcars are a type of cargo carrying railroad vehicle, widely onsidered the original kind of cargo carrying rail vehicle.[1]

Original flatcars were totally flat. More modern variants include flatcars with vertical walls, at either end, and flatcars that dip, in the middle, for taller cargos.

Cargos include road vehicles, and military vehicles, freshly harvested trees, processed lumber, rolls of wire, or steel plate.
