Galadriel (Rings of Power)

From Encyc
Morfydd Clark, the actor who plays Galadriel in Rings of Power. (2022)

Galadriel is an invented elf-like character in the Tolkien-inspired Amazon series, Rings of Power. She bears little resemblance to the Galadriel in Tolkien's books or the Peter Jackson movies.

Galadriel is 5'4" and dyes her hair blonde. She is a warrior, the "Commander of the Northern Armies". She often speaks contemptuously to her subordinates and her peers and rolls her R's in an exaggerated way.

Galadriel hates orcs and has vowed to exterminate the entire race. YouTube commentators have compared her to Amon Goeth, the Nazi death camp commander portrayed by Ralph Fiennes in Schindler's List as well as Reinhard Heydrich, the "Blond Beast", known for his brutality in Czechoslovakia.[1]

Galadriel developed romantic feelings for Sauron in his Halbrand form, and was disappointed when Sauron revealed his true identity.

As commander of a party hunting Sauron for hundreds of years, she refused to turn back even when her troops were collapsing from exhaustion and exposure to the wind, snow, and cold. When they encountered a cave troll, they seemed improperly trained and unprepared for the battle. Galadriel easily dispatched the troll, flourishing her sword afterwards, and bragging about "troll blood" when she returned to the elf city. Commentators have pointed out that this snow troll was not seeking a fight, that she was in her own home and may well have had young to protect when the elves burst in and attacked her.
