Guam

Guam is an American territory in the central Pacific, in the Micronesia region. It was colonized by Spain in the 1500s and ceded to the United States after the Spanish-American War, in 1898. It is strategically important as a naval base. During World War II, it was occupied by the Japanese for two years.
