Gustav line

The Gustav line was a series of German fortifications across the Italian peninsula, south of Rome, during World War II. Albert Kesselring led the Germans. They were able to slow the Allied advance through the winter of 1943-1944 and prolong the war.

An attempt was made to bypass the line with the Anzio landing.
