HDTV is television, in high definition. The resolution is higher than low definition television. It is roughly closer to the screen resolution of computer monitors.

Television stations in the United States have been broadcasting HD signals in digital for years, and are set to discontinue broadcasting standard definition analog signals pretty soon. President Obama ok'd another delay.
