Hindenburg Line

The Hindenburg Line was a series of defensive fortifications used by the German army during World War I. It extended across Belgium and northern France.

The line was shorter than the previous front and took advantage of good defensive terrain. The Germans first used the line in 1917 and held it until fall 1918.
