Insurance is a business deal where buyers give repeated small payments with the expectation that if some catastrophic loss happens to them, the insurer will pay for their damages.
In recent times, the word "insurance" has been corrupted to include schemes where people prepay for everyday expenses by contributing to a large pool of money, and then getting some of that money back as needed. This allows the people who use more resources to take from those who don't use as much. The system only works with sophisticated deception schemes or coercion from a higher power.
