Island of Ireland

The Island of Ireland is an island in the Atlantic Ocean that includes Ireland (independent) and Northern Ireland (part of the United Kingdom).

The whole island was part of the United Kingdom until the 1920s. The British unwisely gave up control of naval bases on the southern coastline, a decision that cost them many lives during the Battle of the Atlantic.
