James Bond

From Encyc

James Bond is the name of an influential fictional spy.

The character James Bond was created by Ian Fleming, a novelist who had been an intelligence agent in World War 2. Bond's career, however, took place in the post-war period.

Fleming wrote Bond as a brutal character, with a "license to kill", who was also suave and irrestible to women. Bond novels, like Casino Royale, romanticized espionage, having Bond stay in luxurious hotels, and spend a lot of money, to make his cover story more credible.

Fleming's 12 Bond novels spawned a series of several dozen movies.
