Janet Zuccarini is a Canadian restauranteur.[1][2]
In 2023 she married 80-year-old musician Robbie Robertson, who was suffering from cancer, and died five months later.[1][2]
Questions were raised by Robertson's children, who had been told the marriage would not affect their inheritance from the father they had always been close to.[1][2] However, they learned that Robertson signed a pre-nuptial agreement, prepared by Zuccarini's lawyers, that bound his estate to pay half the mortgage payments on the $6 million home the couple had purchased.
Robertson's children assert that, after their father's surprise wedding, he assured them that his estate planning had not changed, and he planned to leave them his entire property.[3]

What they didn’t know at the time was this: just prior to the wedding, Zuccarini allegedly had Robertson sign a prenup prepared by her attorneys, as well an amended agreement concerning their home that stated that if one of them died, the estate of the deceased would continue to pay one half of the mortgage. This in clear contrast to the original intent – that Robertson and Zuccarini would share all expenses and upon the death of one of them the other would either sell the property and disburse half the proceeds to the other’s heirs or buy the other half from those heirs.

Before they met, the family — Robertson’s three kids, six grandchildren and even the mother to his children, his ex-wife, Dominique Bourgeois, his best friend until his death — would gather every Sunday for lunch. Zuccarini was insistent they keep up the gatherings. “To her credit, she encouraged him to keep this tradition going,” says Alexandra.

Robertson’s children further claim that Zuccarini pursued the prenup and wedding in secret so that neither they nor his ex-wife, Dominique Bourgeois (with whom Robertson remained close), would “be able to review the documents in advance or discuss its content with him.” They claim they only learned about the marriage — allegedly only attended by Zuccarini’s sister and brother-in-law — a few hours after it happened, showing up to the house for what they thought was an anniversary party, before learning it was a wedding party.
