Johnny Carson

Johnny Carson was the host of the Tonight Show, a late night talk show on NBC, for decades. His sidekick was Ed McMahan.

Carson had a centrist, relatively PG-rated act that was very calming. He helped many young comedians get started, e.g. Jay Leno, Tim Allen, and Jerry Seinfeld.

He liked to read children's letters to Santa.
