Joseph Bosworth

Joseph Bosworth (1789-1876) was an English expert on the Anglo-Saxon language.

He was born in Derbyshire. He compiled An Anglo-Saxon Dictionary (published 1838). He was Professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford University from 1858. In 1867, he gave £10,000 to establish a similar chair at Cambridge University.
