Knife
Appearance

A knife is a cutting tool, usually made of steel. Knives are typically under 12 inches long, beyond which they are typically called swords. Knives can have one edge or two, and a blunt or sharp tip. They can be used for food preparation, self-defense, carving, and for many other purposes.

[edit | edit source]- Barlow - Pen blade at one end, sometimes a second larger blade at same end. Old design, carried by George Washington.
- Canoe - Wide large blade at one end, pen at other
- Muskrat - Two slender clip point blades, one at each end. Originally used for skinning muskrats, where a backup blade was handy if the first got dull.
- Peanut - Small, with two blades from the same end, rounded handle. Clip blade and pen blade.
- Sodbuster - One blade, simple handle (usually synthetic) with ellipse shape to expose grab point on the blade, wide flat blade. Evolved from European peasant knives.
- Stockman - Clip point, spey blade, and sheepsfoot. Sometimes punch instead of spey blade. Cowboy knife.
- Trapper - Clip point and spey blade from same end.
