Ledo Road
The Ledo Road was a road that was constructed during World War II as a new route across the Himalaya Mountains. This allowed the allies to supply China from British-held India, and was safer than the air route (flying the Hump) and more secure than the Burma Road.
Due to the mountainous terrain and long distances involved, the road was quite costly and hazardous to construct. Its completion helped the Chinese gain the upper hand in their war against the Japanese occupation.
