Leon Derrick Youngblood Sr, wore two hats, one as a top marketing executive with AT&T in 1992, at the same time he wanted to make his debut into the music business. Leon connected with the head of A&R for Warner Brothers music Eddie Singleton. Through this relationship Leon Youngblood Sr, was able to build his company StageStar Promotions. Leon Derrick Youngblood Sr was the first person to ever bring record labels to San Diego. Thus, becoming a pioneer in the music business for San Diego.
His influence did not go unnoticed, the Mayor of San Diego Susan Golden named May 19th Leon Youngblood Day. He was awarded this honor because of his work with at risk youth. Providing them with opportunities other than gang violence, he helped them get employed as producers, engineers, writers and office managers in the music industry. The San Diego Union Tribune the largest newspaper in San Diego did a three-page news article on Leon Youngblood and dubbed him a Musical Maverick. This led to Lyor Cohen who is now head of Youtube music to contact Leon Youngblood, Lyor wanted to run Leon's company. Lyor explained that he helped start Def Jam, and asked Leon to call Russell Simmons to verify. In his own words the conversation went like this Leon called Russell Simmons, Russell answered "who the F is this, Leon replied its Leon Youngblood CEO of StageStar Promotions, Russell's reply was what the F you want, Leon ever the cool minded professional said I wanted to ask you if Lyor helped start Def Jam, because he gave me your number and I want him to run my company after I verify this information. Russell confirmed and then realized that he will lose Lyor Cohen and eventually they reconnected because of my call and the rest is history you can look at what Lyor did in the music industry.
Leon went on to mold his son Roccstar into one of the music successful music producers in the world, he also worked on Destiny Child the Untold Story with Beyonce's father Dr. Matthew Knowles, Youngblood put all the people together for that project. Dr Knowles flew to San Diego and Youngblood connected all the people for that successful best sellers project. Leon Derrick Youngblood Sr also put together the Maya Angelou project with his son Roccstar and was able to complete it. Maya Angelou's iconic poems were turned into music on the projected named Caged Bird Sings, which was featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show. There are way too many accomplishments to list, Leon Derrick Youngblood Sr helped Jerry Greenberg run Micheal Jackson's label MJJ and continues to be a business partner of Jerry Greenberg so 20 year later.
Leon Youngblood Sr also connected music producer T-Coles and Riley with internet sensation Matty B raps with the song California Dreaming which contributed to over 5 billion views. These are remarkable feats that Youngblood accomplished using his marketing and business negotiating skills. Youngblood Sr always one to credit Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior with ever good thing that came from his work continues to break new ground. Connecting the most prolific book author in the world Brenda Jackson with over 25 New York Times Best Sellers with Debbie Allen of Grey's Anatomy and the list goes on for Debbie. Ms. Jackson has a dream of always wanting to connect with Debbie Allen and Leon Youngblood got Debbie signed on to do the film A Silken Thread. Chris Lighty who helped 50 cents with the 300 million Vitamin Water deal worked with Leon Youngblood Sr, he connected his son Roccstar to Chris' brother Dave Lighty and was able to get Roccstar signed to Violator and Chris as management.

Leon Youngblood Sr along with his wife Ginger Youngblood both managed the main vocalist featured on the album, prior to the album's release Leon Youngblood had arranged several meeting with Atlantic Records, Sony Music, and Columbia Records who flew Leon Youngblood Sr and the vocalist to New York to meet for an audition for a recording contract. This album did very well considering it did not have a massive promotion budget Youngblood told George Varga in an interview with the Union Tribune Newspaper that the album "was supposed to be billed as a 'Ginuwine Presents' album" " Youngblood stated "the album did very well, its the first time I worked with anyone who cracked #50 on the billboard charts, Im very proud of that fact" Youngblood quickly contacted Matt Wurgaft of Columbia Records who immediately seen the talent in his artist and set up an audition with the Director of A&R for his artist. Youngblood went on to say: "Matt Wurgaft is one of those individuals you would be happy to know and have in your corner, Matt unlike thousands of other A&R guys can quickly detect real talent, my hats are off to him and hopefully I get another chance to work with him in the future.", George Varga, The San Diego Union-Tribune, April 8, 2007
