Light armored vehicle

The term light armored vehicle is used for military vehicles designed to protect occupants from small arms fire, from land mines, and from splinter from nearby explosions. In modern usage more heavily armored vehicle, called infantry fighting vehicles, like the BMP or Bradley vehicle, that carry troops that accompany tanks into battle.
