Lookout

From Encyc

A lookout is someone positioned to be able to see approaching people or objects, especially threatening ones, so as to warn others.

Lookouts are often elevated to have a better view. For example, on a sailing ship, the lookout traditionally sat in a container, known as a crow's nest, at the top of the mainmast.
