Love and Friendship (film, 2016)

Love and Friendship is film, adapted from Jane Austen's epistolary novel Lady Susan, and released in 2016. Film director Whit Stilman borrowed the title from one of Austen's unpublished juvenile works.

All of Austen's other novels have been adapted to film and television multiple times, but this movie is the only adaptation of Lady Susan.

Stilman cast Kate Beckinsale, who been the lead in a version of an adaptation of Austen's Emma to play Lady Susan.

Critics were widely admiring of the film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
