Marketeer Company
The Marketeer Company was a manufacturer of golf carts and small industrial vehicles. It started in California in the early 1940s. The company was founded by Merle Williams in Long Beach.
In 1951, the company introduced one of the first golf carts. It ran off of rechargable electric batteries, because when it was developed, gasoline rationing from World War II was still in effect. Their golf carts are still valuable and collectible.
In 1965, Williams sold the company to Westinghouse.
