Matt Corby
Matt Corby was the runner up of the 2007 edition of Australian Idol. He was the overwhelming favourite to win, with bookmakers giving him as much as 5:1 odds on to win, against the unpopular Natalie Gauci, however, controversially he lost. A major reason why he lost was probably due to the efforts of Australian tabloid TV show Today Tonight, who ran several episodes claiming that Matt Corby and other contestants in the show were cheating and trying to rig the contest to their favour because they were involved in Hillsong Church. Unlike most of the others, Matt Corby actually was involved in Hillsong Church affiliate Shire Live. As with most other editions of the show, the most popular contestant has ended up being runner up, and this looks like being the case again.
In 2011, Matt Corby had a hit with the song "Brother", which peaked at number 2 in the ARIA Chart in Australia.
