Michael Israel Michaels
Michael Israel Michaels (22 Dec. 1908 - 21 Nov. 1992) was a British scientist.
He was educated at the City of London School and the London School of Economics, where he was a Social Science Research Scholar, 1931.
He joined the Ministry of Health where he supervised the New Survey of London Life and Labour, 1932–34. In 1940, following the outbreak of World War II, he became Deputy Director, Programmes and Statistics, Ministry of Supply, 1940–45. He returned to the Ministry of Health, 1946–54. He was then Under-Secretary at the Atomic Energy Office, 1955–59, the Office of the Minister for Science (Atomic Energy Division), 1959–64, and the, Ministry of Technology, 1964–71, when he retired. He was the British Member of the Board of Governors, International Atomic Energy Agency, 1957–71.
He joined the Royal Statistical Society in 1933 and was Chairman of its Official Statistics Committee, 1975-77.
