Monetization
Monetization is the process of turning some sort of interaction into an fiscally beneficial interaction - that is, to "make money" through the interaction, or to turn it into a business.
Content diversion is a form of monetization of user-generated content that would otherwise be difficult to monetize if it stayed on the original site.
Examples[edit]
- A website runs ads alongside regular content. It then receives money from the advertiser every time someone clicks on the ad.
- Coin-operated locks are installed on public toilet stalls. Users of the toilets pay money to access them.
