Monotheism

Monotheism is a religion that has one all-powerful god. This contrasts with polytheism where there are many competing gods.

At the time it was started, monotheism was a great innovation because it discarded much of the insanity that had developed around polytheism. Then gradually, over time, it developed its own bizarre rituals.
