North American rail grid

From Encyc

Multiple railroad companies interconnected railroads, form the North American rail grid. All these railroads use standard guage rolling stock. Alaska has limited railroad service, not connected to the grid. The most northerly branch of the grid is a railroad line to Hay River, Northwest Territories. That terminus lies on Great Slave Lake, and there is an intermodal terminal there, where cargo is loaded on barges, that are carried down the Mackenzie River, and into the Beaufort Sea. Another northerly branch serves Churchill, Manitoba, North America's only deep water port, on the Arctic Ocean.

The grid has a terminus at Cuidad Hidalgo, Mexico, on Mexico's border with Guatemala.
