OpenBSD

From Encyc

OpenBSD is a Unix-like Operating System derived from 4.4BSD. It pays attention to proactive security, code correctness and stability. OpenBSD has spawned numerous projects, often as alternatives to their propietary counterparts.

History

[edit | edit source]

OpenBSD began life as a fork of NetBSD, due to NetBSD project leaders removing Theo from the community. NetBSD was based on 4.4BSD. OpenBSD was, at the time something that was secure and did not suffer hacking attempts (unlike Linux at the time).
