Panama

Panama is a country in Central America, at the isthmus where North and South America come together. It has the Panama Canal, which allows quick transit between the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans.

Panama was settled by the Spanish and was an important part of the Spanish Main. Incan gold and silver was brought up along the Pacific coast and then transported overland to ports on the Caribbean.

The area was plundered by English pirate Henry Morgan.
