Persia

Persia is an ancient civilization centered around modern day Iran. They were often adversaries of Greece and Rome. Under Cyrus, Persia became a huge multiethnic empire. Greatest extent was reached under Xerxes, whose forces fought the Greeks at Thermopylae. Darius was king when Alexander the Great invaded. In the 600s Persia was conquered by the Arabs.
