Prepone

From Encyc

Prepone is an Indian English word that is the opposite of postpone, and can be replaced in non-Indian English with a phrase such as bring forward.

Example usage: I am going to prepone the meeting from next month to be held next week instead.

Prepone is possibly the only word in Indian English that does not have an exact equivalent in British English or American English (i.e. others are simply a slang variant of British English or American English).

There are pushes in many places to have prepone included in British English and American English for the simple reason that it is useful and there is no British English/American English equivalent. Many dictionaries have already included it as a legitimate word and in the future it may be widespread.

The word is significant because it may become the first word ever created in India that will be used in England.

It is also significant, as mentioned above, because it is possibly the only word in Indian English that does not have a British English equivalent.

Many Indians who travel abroad routinely use the word prepone not thinking for a moment that it would not be used in British/American English.
