Providing material support for terrorism
The United States Congress made providing material support for terrorism a crime, following al Qaeda's attacks on 9-11.[1]
Several people, including former Guantanamo captives David Hicks and Salem Hamdan, were convicted of this crime, only to have their convictions over-turned as the material support they were allegedly to have provided preceded the passage of the law.
