Resistance

Resistance is a force that slows down change. In electrical circuits, variable resistance can be used to increase or decrease the brightness of light bulbs.

Strangely, light bulbs themselves are resistors, and their resistance increases with more current passing through them. Bill Hewlett capitalized on this phenominon with a circuit he designed after World War II.
