Scattered object

From Encyc
Scattered objects are Kuiper Belt objects with long periods and eccentric orbits.

Within the Kuiper Belt are Kuiper Belt objects known as scattered objects.[1] Unlike the resonant objects they are not orbitally resonant with Planet Neptune. Unlike the classical objects, their orbits are highly eccentric, with long orbital periods.

The objects discovered until now in Kuiper Belt have very interesting dynamic properties. They have a very uneven distribution of orbital elements, being thus divided in three distinct dynamic classes: classical objects, resonant objects and scattered objects.
