Settlement
A settlement is a place such as a village, town or city where people live. Other words for a settlement are locality and populated place.
There are 3 main types of settlement:
- nucleated settlements (clustered around a focal point)
- linear settlements (in a line, often along a road)
- dispersed settlements (no focal point, scattered over a wider area)
