From Encyc
The river drains 162 square miles (420 km2) of Massachusetts.

The Sudbury River is a 33 miles (53 km) tributary of the Concord River, which is, in turn a tributary to the Merrimac River.[1] The river drains 162 square miles (420 km2) of Massachusetts before it joins with Assabets River, to form the Concord River.

The United States Congress granted the upper reaches of the River protection with a "Wild and Scenic" designation, in 1999.[1]
