Sunshine is the light and warmth emitted by the sun. It may be experienced on Earth during the daytime, subject to clouds or fog.

Metaphorically, it means prosperity or a genial disposition. Someone in a bad mood may be addressed as Sunshine in an ironic or gently scolding tone.
