Super Coach
Super Coach is the premier fantasy football competition for the AFL. It is run by Herald Sun newspaper. Whilst Super Coach started first, eventually the AFL started their own competition, calling it Dream Team. Both Super Coach and Dream Team scores appear in the official statistics of all games.
Super Coach allows you to have $10,000,000 (10 million) to spend on the players (compared to 8 million for Dream Team). Players also cost more. The prizes are $1,000 for weekly winner and a big cash prize for the yearly winner, unlike Dream Team which gives you autographed footballs and a car for the yearly winner. Super Coach is worse in that you can't see the updates as the game is happening (other than through AFL.com.au and then working it out). Super Coach also doesn't give you teams lists before the game, nor do they have a finals competition.
One example of a discrepancy in points is that Garry Ablett junior (sometimes called "Jesus" because his Dad, Garry Ablett senior, was called "God" as a nickname) has the all time record for most points in Super Coach in a week, when he scored 350 points in round 5, 2008. In the same week, Garry Ablett junior only scored 250 points on Dream Team. West Coast ruck man Dean Cox once scored 120 in a week on Super Coach but managed 160 on Dream Team, suggesting that sometimes you can get more in Dream Team than in Super Coach.
