A hard shell taco

A taco is a usually delicious food item that originated in Mexico. Typically consisting of meat and cheese (and other ingredients, such as lettuce and tomato) folded into a fried or baked wrapping of thin corn or wheat, there are easily dozens of different local specialty varieties of tacos. Most of the tacos consumed in the United States were purchased at a Taco Bell restaurant.

Tacos may be wrapped in crunchy corn tortillas or soft wheat flour tortillas. The meat inside could consist of ground beef, shredded beef, chicken, or pork; or the taco could be "vegetarian", with refried beans serving as the protein component. Fish tacos are also excellent. Cilantro can also be added to tacos for flavor.
