Taiwan

Taiwan is a country in the Far East. It is offshore of China, in the Pacific Ocean. It is technically part of China, but broke free when the government fled there during the Communist takeover under Mao in the late 1940s.

It is the target of incessant military and economic intimidation from the Chinese, and an important ally to the United States, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.
