Talk:Wikipedia Logs

From Encyc

the life of Wikipedialogs.com[edit]

in its short life, Wikipedialogs.com published logs from several of Wikipedia's notorious IRC channels, exposing abuse, and abusiveness. It was invoked in the Kiefer.Wolfowitz and Ironholds arbcom case, and was invoked in other places as well. After a legal threat from WMF, it was easier to just let the domain lapse. they always win anyway. :P Badmachine (talk) 22:15, 24 November 2014 (CST)

Interesting update. Why not just change the name to wikichatlogs or wikiadminlogs or something like that? Auggie (talk) 15:13, 25 November 2014 (CST)
it became harder and harder for the logbot to avoid detection. the Wikipedians were able to determine who i was by certain data included in the published log, and ban the logbot by ip and apparently by name*. by the end, all my IPs were blocked from the juiciest channels and it became not really worth it anymore. :< Badmachine (talk) 18:49, 25 November 2014 (CST)
