Tear
A tear is drop of a liquid and salty secretion from the eye.
The eye is naturally covered with this secretion, but an irritation of the eye or strong emotion (usually sadness but sometimes also happiness) can lead to a sharp increase of secretion. In this case, the excess trickles out as teardrops, a process known as crying.
