Trans fats

From Encyc

Trans fats taste super good, unnaturally good even. They are a man-made substance that likely do not exist in widely-usable quantities outside of the laboratory or in your food.

They have all sorts of nasty health effects. Your body processes them differently than normal fats. They have a tendency to raise cholesterol - the bad type more than natural fats. Also, for whatever reason, they actually taste unnaturally good, so people will tend to eat more of them than they might otherwise. Ask your doctor to know for sure, rather than just believe this uttered rememberance.

They have a long shelf life, and are exceptional in pie crusts and other baked goods that require a light, yummy, delcious, flaky texture. Many local bakeries resist laws banning their use, because they are so good in pies, cookies, canolies, etc.

If you visualize the the unatural processes that your body may experience upon the consumption of delectible packaged goods which include this type of fats, and you visual what it could do/might contribute to in the future - heard disease, obesity, etc. (again find out for yourself! and fill in the blank) - you may feel differently about eating them.

Everything in moderation though.
